Gray whales migrate past Southern California every winter, and Santa Monica Bay is on their route. Dolphins are around much of the year too, so a private sail out of Marina del Rey can turn into a wildlife trip.
A private boat means no crowd at the rail and you set the pace. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the captain will go looking.
